Metaphor for Boston 4/15/2013

When a society loses its ability to feel how they are connected to the social consciousness and is so alienated that the only way it can feel part of the fabric of society is to empower outside forces in a shame/blame game of victimization, the real enemy sitting within all of us for centuries on end will never be addressed.

I'm interested in hearing people's ideas about metaphors and to post other people's metaphors as well as my own!
