Light Deprivation

Heavy and thick

the air hangs

an unseen curtain

veiling the sun

like a Burkha

on this barely

clouded sky.

Six o’clock last night

her eyes shone out

for a few minutes

as the then filled

clouds walked

past her window.

I drink my coffee

left from a pot

made the day before

and appreciate  it

before I make some more.

It is too early for cold

versions left in the frig.
